Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors is made up entirely of dedicated members who volunteer their time because they believe in the mission of the Earlville Opera House. Every exhibition we host and concert we stage is due in part to their dedication. don't be afraid to say hello and ask any of us about what's going on at the Earlville Opera House. We love this place as much as you do, and we're thrilled to share our stories!

Bruce WArd, president

When I first shook the hand of my freshman-year R.A. At Colgate University in 1971, he said “This is a great place to be if you just get involved with the community. In fact, there’s a group forming to save an old opera house building just five miles from here.” Well, as an 18 year old I did not get involved then, but when I returned to the area some years later I as delighted to become a board member and serve on the programming committee. The Earlville Opera House has been a very special place for me ever since. As an architect I’m in love with the building, and it’s a perfect time capsule to take us back to 1892. As a musician, I love how the Opera house brings live music to the area that we might otherwise never hear. And I love that our galleries help support many artists while bringing high quality visual art to our rural area. It’s a special place, and the volunteers who make it run are special people.

I discovered my musical interests in Folk, Bluegrass, and Americana while I was a graduate student living in Nashville. I came to take for granted that I could go out any nigh of the week and see world-class musicians at places like The Station Inn and Robert’s Western World. I don’t live in Nashville anymore, which makes having an incredible venue like the Earlville Opera House with it’s rich history, stellar acoustics, and world-class musicians so important to me. EOH is a laid back, welcoming place where everyone can feel at home and enjoy an evening of excellent music with a couple hundred of new friends who share a love of music. I simply can’t get enough of this place.

Craig Brundage, Board member

As a lifelong music fan and recent transplant from New York City, the Earlville Opera House provides a beautiful local venue for me to be able to see touring musicians. I have enjoyed seeing a variety of acts there from the country-blues of singer songwriter Ellen Jewel to slide guitar master Sonny Landreth. I’m looking forward to the shows coming up this season and beyond.

I have been a member of the Earlville Opera House since I moved to Hamilton in 2014. The first minute I walked in the door, I felt an instant attachment and that feeling has never left me. The shows I have seen and the time I have spent volunteering are some of my best memories. The talent that the Opera House attracts is phenomenal and the atmosphere is really special. The EOH is a treasure.

As a new area resident and new Board Member I’m excited about this season’s concert agenda and the many other wonderful events planned for community participation. This is a great team of volunteers offering their time to engage our neighbors in the cultural benefits of Central New York living.

I moved to Hamilton 7 years ago and remember driving past the EOH and wondering what was inside of the beautiful historic building. I attended the Holiday shop that December and was genuinely impressed by the beauty and preservation of the building. As a musician, I am always looking to support the Arts and am very happy to be on the board. The programming at the EOH offers something for everyone and all age groups. It is a very special place.

My first experience with the Opera House was actually as a performer back in 2010 or 2011. I played there as part of a local musician showcase with the band Same Blood Folk. I have never played in a room quite like the Opera House since then, and only after living in the area did I come to understand how historic the stage is. It was an honor then to play and is an honor now to be a member of the board.
