Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue
July 17, 2009 - Friday, 8pm
Blues - New Orleans Jazz
Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue
July 17, 2009 - Friday, 8pm
Blues - New Orleans Jazz

"If you missed Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue... consider it a life lesson in regret. The band opened with "A Whole Lot of Lovin'" and went on to play a streetwise, elegant set culled from the fruits of musical history with imaginative flair.

"Tunes melded multiple genres of music with nods to everyone from Louis Armstrong to AC/DC. Trombone Shorty certainly knows how to rock and groove at the same time, prompting people to their feet through long solos and jams.

Gypsy Jazz
John Jorgenson Quintet
July 24, 2009 - Friday, 8pm
Gypsy Jazz

Although John Jorgenson is renowned in the pop, country and rock world, gypsy jazz is the style of music closest to his heart. Because of his international reputation as a gypsy jazz player, John was twice asked to recreate Django Reinhardt's music for feature films, Gattica and Head in The Clouds. Beautiful melodies and soulful virtuosity abound for listeners treated to John Jorgenson's dazzling fretwork and sizzling clarinet playing. Additionally, John released two gypsy jazz guitar instruction books and DVDs, and a third instruction book is due to come out later this year.
