FIRST PRIZE:EMELIA FAILING, UTICA, NY:
Bio: My name is Emelia. Music is just a thing I do. It holds my heart, It’s in my veins. I surround myself with people who feel the same. Enjoy the show.
Songs: “They’re not watching” & “Listen”
"They’re not watching" excerpt
I took my place back to the face that we both knew
I walked alone cold as bone wasted on you
A part of me told me I should speak the truth
But watching you turn fake, was more than I could take

“Paper Bag” - excerpt
Breath into a paper bag
Lips are painted red
You puff until they’ve cracked and bled
Lost your sense of touch
It’s hard to say you like it much, but
Life’s become a drag
From a cigarette
You breathe into a paper bag

THIRD PRIZE: MERRILL AMOS, CAZENOVIA, NY
presents “Guilty” & “Your Little Voice”
“Your Little Voice” - excerpt
It was night time and I remember
All the lights burning bright like amber
Inspiration filled the air
Whisper be patient, we’ll get there
And I could stay here till the stage clears,
But it’ll take years for your little voice to leave my ears
Bio: Hello all! I’m a 19 year-old self taught singer/songwriter from Cazenovia, NY and would love nothing more than to play music for the rest of my life. I’ve been playing guitar and writing for the last five years, and I continue to surprise myself with everything I write (although not in a bad way, don’t worry). Looking at what I wrote five years ago compared to things I have recently written, I am amazed at how far music has taken me...and excited about where we still have yet to go. I play whenever, wherever, and whatever I can...I can do birthday parties upon request (call me!) I’m currently a sophomore at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, NY and study International Relations, which has nothing to do with music, but hey, I still need to know what’s going on in the world, right? Thanks for reading and listening!
