Kim Waale
September 25 - November 6, 2010
East Gallery

Nature Study

Image: Nature Study IV: 2009, oil on paper, collage.

A new installation, Nature Study, for the East Gallery will refer to to other previous works by Waale: Blind Spot, Knit/Gwau and Re-Inventing Nature.

The artist hopes to explore in this installation, "how we address both our closeness to and distance from the natural world in the ways we represent nature. By reconstructing and re-imagining the natural world, I hope to create art that revives a visionary impulse and encourages one to imagine fewer barriers between nature and him/herself."

New drawings that are studies of the forthcoming installation will be a part of the exhibition.
