VOLUNTEERS! Have fun and be a part of something bigger than yourself by joining the Earlville Opera House Volunteers. Techies, bakers, handymen, party people, writers, designers, students, retirees, neatniks, and art enthusiasts will all find a place in our busy multi-arts center located in beautiful downtown Earlville. We have two art galleries, an arts café, gift shop, and an elegant 300 seat theater where summer performances include Folk, Country, Cajun, and Jazz performers, as well as theater productions and more.

 

The next few years are going to be challenging for all of us in Central New York. The silver lining of this dire economy may well be that we reconnect with friends and neighbors and rethink why we choose to live in these lovely hills and valleys. Good folks, a beautiful countryside and treasures like the Earlville Opera House should lift our spirits and keep us focused on better days ahead.

 

Volunteers make all the difference to small non-profit organizations like the EOH. We need you. Our hope is that every volunteer gets as much from the experience as they give. 

Volunteer Opportunities at the Earlville Opera House   1/09

q                   Host or Hostess for galleries and gift shop one afternoon per week

q                   Make dinner for performers (sometimes dietary restrictions, such as low dairy for singers)

q                   Help with mailings - labels, stamps, organize by zip code

q                   Office workers, esp. if skilled with computers, can update databases, do mail merges etc

q                   Internet – update selected community websites w. EOH info, photos etc. (supplied by EOH staff)

q                   Help backstage or front lobby during performances

q                   Gifted w. graphics? Help w. poster design

q                   Gifted writer? – Help w. articles and PR

q                   Born leader? – Help us build our base, manage events etc

q                   Own nice big digs? – Provide hospitality to visiting artists and musicians – dinners or overnights

q                   Poster distribution for the individual area communities

q                   Cleaning and light tidying

q                   Baking, baking, and more baking. The EOH always needs cookies.

q                   Host/ess events – gallery opening, arts café during performances in the theater etc

q                   Staff our gift shop sales during performances, openings, and during special sales

q                   Serve at events, managing the kitchen, cleaning up after food at events.

q                   Beautify the lobby and front window – flowers, displays

q                   Help artists hang exhibits

q                   Shovel snow and help keep the grounds safe and tidy – possibly a weekday men’s volunteer group to apply their know-how to a variety of handyman tasks

q                   Build storage shelves in the EOH basement

q                   Artists and crafters willing to teach and/or demonstrate their techniques

q                   Development Committee has many fundraisers planned – if you love parties become part of this special events team

q                   Liaisons for area schools – teens and teachers esp. well suited to making sure the EOH opportunities well publicized to our young people.

q                   Building maintenance – any and all building skills from handyman to plumber would be of great help
